Shabbat in the Pool

We will have the Sellwood Park Pool (at 7951 SE 7th Ave) to ourselves from 5:15 to 6:15 pm, then gather for Havdalah singing, a story, and BYO picnic under the trees. RSVP below by Monday, Aug. 1 with family name(s) and ages of any children so we can reserve enough lifeguards. Even if you already told your Shabbat School group you are coming, please RSVP. In order to defray the major cost of renting the pool/lifeguards, please consider making a donation of $5–$15.

And most importantly it is about hope. It is about learning about these solutions to climate change and changing the hearts and minds of those around us, so that we can all work together. We will be discussing why this shabbes is called Shabbat HaGadol, and the special Haftarah, which is Malachi 3:4-24. Interestingly enough, there is no special Torah reading for what would seem like such a special occasion. In addition to Havurah Shalom, other congregations are being invited, and we may even have some folks joining us from other parts of the country and maybe the world. No prior knowledge or study is necessary. All viewpoints are welcome as we try to draw lessons from our holy books -

Explore tools and practices to facilitate your own learning and experience from Liberation to Revelation. We will have an intro class followed by half-hour check-ins, one for each Sephira.
