Affinity Groups

Young Adults

This is a social group for people in their early 30s to 45, who meet for monthly potluck Shabbat meals to celebrate their Jewish heritage and discuss what as Jews they can do to make the world better. Contact Havurah's office for more information.

People Ages 45-60

This social group is for people ages 45-60 interested in enjoying activities centered around Jewishness, such as films, dances, musical events, plays or Shabbat dinners. Contact the Havurah office or Carolina Martinez to learn more.

Alter Rockers

Havurah members who are older, perhaps retired, no longer necessarily involved in the Jewish education and activities of children, and looking to have some fun. Even if you don’t fit into any of these categories and want to participate, everyone is welcome! If you are interested, please contact Sarah Rosenberg to get on the email list and learn about upcoming fun.

Book Discussion Group

Led by Havurah members, the book discussion group meets once a month to discuss books with a Jewish theme. Check our online calendar upcoming discussions.

Lotsa Helping Hands

When a family is in need, our community goes into action. We have a Havurah group, called Havhelp, set up here. Please join us if you're interested in helping members during difficult times. This flier describes more about this caring community. If you need help for yourself or a family member, please contact Havurah's office at 503-248-4662 or Office staff will ask you questions about the help you need, and send your request for assistance to the Havurah member who manages Lotsa Helping Hands.

Mah Jongg

Our Mah Jongg group meets about once a month. If you're interested in joining the group, please contact Gloria Halper.

Music Group

Led by Havurah Music Coordinator Ilene Safyan, our music group meets during the weeks before Jewish holidays to learn and share holiday music. Please contact Ilene Safyan if you're interested in this group.
