MACG Leadership for Public Life Virtual Training
Saturday, Sept. 18 & 25, 10-3 pm via Zoom: register here
Join this MACG two-day virtual Leadership Institute for Public Life training. Learn the MACG organizing model and be part of our work for the common good! The Institute provides content based on the philosophy and practices developed by the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in over 70 years of organizing experience. The topics include:
▪ Why organize? – Examine the history, traditions, and values of our labor, faith, community, and educational organizations.
▪ Fundamental organizing skills – Learn tools to conduct individual relational meetings, listening sessions, research, negotiations, and action to help obtain a concrete, winnable outcome.
▪ Strengthening our institutions – Engage people systematically in a culture that is relational, action-oriented, and reflective.
▪ Problems vs. issues – Focus from general problems to concrete, winnable issues by using relational power in the public arena to negotiate for the common good.
Education Director Deborah Eisenbach-Budner has been in communication with Shabbat School families about safety protocols that will be in place when our Youth Education programs start this fall. The Core Crisis Team has reviewed those protocols and incorporated them into the Havurah Safety Gathering Guidelines. Though there are slight variations between Shabbat School, Middle School, and High School, the basic rules will require masks and distancing for all (adults and youth), limiting total attendance for most activities, requiring any eating to be outdoors, and tracking attendance. The updated Guidelines can be viewed in full here. The Youth Education rules can be found in Section 6 starting on the bottom of page 5 in the Guidelines.
If you have any questions about the updated Guidelines, or if you have a comment for the CCT, please send an email to info@havurahshalom.org. Your email will be shared with the committee and one of the members will get back to you.
