B’nai Mitzvah Workshops Offered Each Year

Please check our online calendar for upcoming workshops.

Grade 5 – B’nai/B’not Mitzvah Date Selection Workshop
Gather with other parents, Rabbi Joey, and the B’nai Mitzvah Committee, to consider what this life-cycle process means to your family, and learn about becoming a B’nai/B’not Mitzvah in the Havurah community. You will receive information about selecting a Shabbat date for your child’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

Navigating the Shabbat Morning Service for B’nai/B’not Mitzvah Families
Roger Brewer will lead families through the structure and meaning of the service and discuss how each family makes decisions about the service that they will help shape.

Drash Writing for Bnai/Bnot Mitzvah Families
Writing a drash is one of the most important parts of Bat/Bar Mitzvah preparation. In this workshop, you will study a passage of Torah, discover a commentary, pose an interesting question and relate it to your contemporary context.

Getting Down to Tachlis (the Nitty Gritty) For Grades 6–8 B’nai/B’not Mitzvah Families
The logistics of planning, celebration, invitations and set-up will be addressed by Mario Castellar and members of the B’nai Mitzvah Committee. This workshop is offered twice during the year.
