1:00 PM - 4:00 PMHavurah ShalomAnti-Racism Workshop for Parents and Caregivers of Young Children, facilitated by and for parents who benefit from white privilege.
This workshop is organized by the Portland Chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), Family Action. SURJ is a national group of individuals and groups organizing white people for racial justice.
Objectives:
- Continue to build a community of anti-racist families
- Increase awareness of white supremacy culture as it relates to our adult selves and the young people we care for
- Build skills to discuss racism with young children in our lives
Expectations:
- Come prepared to interact and share your stories and perspectives
- Stay curious
- Expect to be challenged, and also have fun!
Please bring a snack to share with adults. Snacks will be provided for the kids. Limited free childcare is available. Register below.
The workshop is free and we ask that people donate $0-20 to be given to a people of color led organization that works with families (you can do this on registration website).
