Join us for our next meeting of Havurah's Sanctuary Committee.

You are invited to arrive early, at 6:30 pm, to add your artwork or greenery - or artwork and greenery provided by Havurah - to the newly built sukkah.

The Sanctuary Committee is defining how our community will realize our pledge to be a Sanctuary Community. Our Community Engagement sub-team will provide an update on the work of Tikkun Adalante - our outreach activities with the Latino Community. We have made good connections with the women's group, Bienestar de la Familia, to learn about the needs of this community. There is a need for more volunteers, both on regular basis to staff 'intake hours", but also as needed for requests as they come up.

Our Political Action sub-team has been involved in vigils at the ICE Facility on Macadam and at the Washington County Courthouse. We will hear from our legal observers about the racial profiling by ICE agents at the courthouse that was captured on video. We will also begin planning for two actions: Havurah will be organizing the Last Thursday ICE vigil at the ICE office on November 30th. We will also begin discussion about what we can do to support DACA people and work toward passage of the Dream Act of 2017. We hope you can attend, whether you have attended previously of this will be your first time.
