What moves you? Want to learn how to tie that into Torah to help inspire and move others? Havurah community minyan is often looking for members to write and give a drash. Drashot can be made to honor a birthday or yahrzeit, or you may speak on a topic that calls for understanding and prayer. Join Harriet Cooke to learn and practice how to write a drash. Bring a notebook and pen.
Elul Tov!
This event is being offered as part of Havurah Shalom’s celebration of the Hebrew month of Elul! As Elul precedes Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we use this time for study, reflection, and mental and spiritual preparation and inspiration. All are invited to attend our gatherings, which span spiritual, text-based, political, ecological and creative topics. We hope you will find them enriching, fun, moving, and worthwhile. You can find the full list of classes here, or see the calendar. For questions about this programming, please reach out to Rachel Pollak.
Nonmembers are welcome!
This class is now on Zoom only.
Building Entry
For security reasons, the building always remains locked. It is the responsibility of member participants to bring the door code and use it to come inside. Since the code cannot be transmitted by email, please contact one of our staff if you don't have it yet: Rachel Pollak (503-248-4662, ext. 2) or Tara Anderson (ext. 4).
If you are not a member of Havurah, we hope you will join us for this activity, but we cannot share the code with you. Call or text the phone number attached to the door when you arrive, and a participant will come let you in.
We also want to encourage you to arrive on time, particularly those who do not have a code. This will minimize disruptions.
Volunteer opportunity! On the first day of this activity, the leader will ask for someone to share their phone number on the door sign and monitor their phone alerts so that others can be let into the building to attend class. If you can help in this way, please tell the instructor. Thank you!
Accommodations
