Themes of change, family loyalty, and the struggle for autonomy permeate early 20th century Yiddish literature. Using sexuality as a focal point, we will see how Jewish language and culture are used to explore themes of generational conflict, identity and cultural transition. Malka Heifetz Tussman and Anna Margolin are among the poets that we will read together in English translation (but we will have the Yiddish available for reference). Led by Deborah Eisenbach-Budner.
