REGISTRATION FOR THIS CLASS IS NOW CLOSED.
Are you curious about how the tzitzit, or fringe, of a tallit transforms a simple shawl or piece of fabric into a sacred garment? Do you have a special shawl, scarf, or piece of fabric that you would like to transform into a tallit? Or are you ready to search for one? Then please join our class as we learn to a create a tallit, tie the tzitzit, and learn of the meaning of the gematria, , or mathematical symbolism, wound and knotted into the holy fringe.
Basic sewing skills would be helpful. But they are not necessary if you use a finished scarf or shawl and don’t desire additional sewn elements added to the tallit such as corners and atara (the collar). It would be helpful to register ahead of time so you get some guidance around fabric choices. Led by Laine Barbanell Schipper.
Instructions from Laine will be emailed upon registration.
