(IP) Teen Engagement Tikkun Olam Activity

Wednesday, May 22, 2024 14 Iyyar 5784

6:00 PM - 8:30 PMHavurah Shalom

In conjunction with Havurah's Poverty & Homelessness Group, the Teen Engagement Committee has organized a fun and simple craft-based activity:

Havurah teens (7th to 12th grade) are invited to gather together to eat dinner (pizza, vegetables, cookies) and then create no-sew fleece blankets for recipients of Community Warehouse services. Community Warehouse is a local furniture bank that provides donated furniture and household items to neighbors seeking the comfort and dignity of a furnished home while overcoming adversity.

Havurahnik parents/guardians and/or Havurah teens: Please RSVP (below) by Sunday, May 19.

Be sure to include the following in your registration notes: (1) the total number of adults and teens you expect to bring, (2) if your kid(s) have any dietary requirements we should be aware of, and (3) if you happen to be a willing and available overseer of activity. (Parents are welcome to drop off their teens or stay and schmooze.)

Havurah Teen Engagement/Poverty and Homelessness Project (May 22)

6 pm to 6:30 pm - Pizza, veggies, and cookies (hosted by Havurah)

6:30 pm to 8:30 pm - Julie Hasting's tutorial on making the no-sew blankets, followed by an hour and a half of social craft time (with Julie continuing to guide participants).

Making no-sew fleece blankets is as easy as cutting fringe into two pieces of fleece and tying them together. View this 36-second video for a visual representation.

Once the RSVPs are in and the numbers are clear, we'll let all the Havurah parents/guardians who registered know the location of this event. It will either be at Havurah or the Annex.

Questions? Reach out to Aviv Castro. Email is best.
