1:30 PM - 3:00 PMSocial Hall

Sunday, Sept. 10, 1:30 – 3:00 pm, Havurah Shalom

Monday, Sept. 11, 7:00 - 8:30 pm, St. Charles Catholic Church, 5310 NE 42nd Ave.

The housing action team of MACG (Metropolitan Alliance for Common Good) has had many successes and has built a positive reputation with the City of Portland's Housing Bureau. One of these successes is our work to pass the historic $258M Affordable Bond Measure last November.

MACG continues to build its power to make change. MACG was asked to participate as a member of the Stakeholder Advisory Group (SAG) in deciding how the Housing Bureau should spend the $258M to realize these affordable housing units. How should opportunities be selected, where should this housing be built to have the best impact.

The promise was for 1300 affordable units focused on the lowest income people that other housing efforts do not address. Promises need actions to make them real. As a member of the SAG, MACG has been asked to gather community feedback about the draft framework for how the bond money should be spent from MACG institutions in Portland.

Havurah Shalom is an active MACG member, and MACG needs our community’s participation in one of the two community forums that have been scheduled. See dates and locations above. We want your feedback on the priorities developed by the SAG and on the process used to set these priorities for the $258M housing bond. And we need your input to help shape MACG’s next efforts to increase affordable housing options.

Your ideas and the stories of your loved ones are important! See the event flyer here. Please RSVP here. or email office@macg.org. Questions? Contact Bob Brown at rebrown47@gmail.com.
