Play Reading with Emily Simon: God of Vengeance
Wednesday, August 7, 2019 • 6 Av 5779
7:00 PM - 9:00 PMTo support the joint Shabbaton over Labor Day weekend with Temple Emek Shalom, Emily Simon will lead an informal, participatory play reading of God of Vengeance, on which the play Indecent is based. Act I will be read on Aug. 7 and Act II will be read on Aug. 14. You are invited to attend both evenings, but you can attend only one if you wish.
Each evening will begin with a short show introduction by Emily, who will then assign the parts based upon who shows up and what part they want to be read. Hopefully, there will be enough time after the reading to then discuss the play. Everyone is welcome to participate whether they are attending the Shabbaton, seeing Indecent at another time, have already seen it, or are not seeing it at all.
Download a pdf of God of Vengeance here. Paper copies of the play will NOT be made available during the reading, to save paper.
Sorry, Registration has ended.

(No Mahjong on Sept. 1) Click here for full info on joining this group. Just for Havurah members, our Mahjong Group is a fun, social activity that builds community, encouraging new friendships and cementing old ones. And while some of us may play elsewhere as well, we all agreed that restoring its place as an ongoing congregational activity will be a good fit for Havurah and those of us who play or want to learn the game. -

During the High Holy Days we read four sections of the Torah. This series of study sessions will give us an opportunity to read the texts and explore their meanings. We will look at what our teachers before us thought of the readings, as well as investigate modern commentators. We also will come up with our own thoughts and see how we can understand the texts for our lives today. Led by David Dropkin. No experience necessary. Please join us.
