We will explore the Book of Psalms through a variety of lenses: historical, theological, structural and poetic. Focusing then on selected psalms, we will compare translations, examine them as stories of emotional journey, and try our hand at writing our own psalms. Led by Tivona Reith. Tivona Reith is an ordained rabbinic chaplain and director of studies for the ALEPH Jewish Renewal seminary. She has used psalms extensively in her chaplaincy, when sitting shmira for the deceased, leading life-cycle rituals, and in spiritual direction settings. As preparation for her ordination in 2012, she studied a psalm a day through chant, art-play, and creative journaling, and loves exploring with others the rich layers of meaning and imagery in psalms.
