7:00 PM - 8:00 PMZoom Room Bet

The Racial Justice Committee is pleased to announce and invite you to attend the first movie discussion night! We meet virtually and will discuss the movie "I Am Not Your Negro," a documentary based on the writing of James Baldwin. The movie is available to watch prior to our meeting on many platforms for free, and on Netflix and Amazon.

"I Am Not Your Negro" is a 2016 documentary film and social critique film essay based on James Baldwin's unfinished manuscript "Remember This House." Narrated by actor Samuel L. Jackson, the film explores the history of racism in the United States through Baldwin's recollections of civil rights leaders Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr., as well as his personal observations of American history. It was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 89th Academy Awards and won the BAFTA Award for Best Documentary.

About one week prior to the discussion, you will receive discussion questions. Please watch the movie on your own time, and come on the June 21 prepared for a facilitated discussion. Questions? Contact Bob Brown or Kathy Gordon
