Would you like to create your own tallit?
Are you curious about how the tzitzit transform a simple shawl or piece of fabric into a sacred garment? Do you have a special shawl, scarf, or piece of fabric that you would like to transform into a tallit? Or are you ready to search for one? Then please join our class as we learn to a create a tallit, tie the tzitzit, and learn of the meaning of the gematria wound and knotted into the holy fringe.
Basic sewing skills would be helpful. But they are not necessary if you use a finished scarf or shawl and don’t desire additional sewn elements added to the tallit such as corners and atara (the collar). Please bring your ideas and any fabric you’ve already selected for your own tallit to the first class so we can discuss them.
Registration for this class has ended, but if you'd like to learn more, please contact the instructor, Laine Schipper.
