Space
Space
When our building was constructed in the late 1990s, our community was smaller, we had fewer staff members, and demand for using our space was lower. As our community has grown, we have recognized that our wonderful building may not be large enough to accommodate all of our activities and needs for gathering.
The chart below shows that survey respondents chose space concerns as the top issue for Havurah leaders to tackle.
Havurah has always relied on rental space in the neighborhood for additional Shabbat School classrooms, and our High Holiday home has been at the Tiffany Center for the last couple of decades. With more staff members, more Havurah household members, and increased numbers of meetings, classes, and gatherings, we now need to determine next steps to remedy our space issues.
The following chart shows support from survey respondents for exploring several options to improve our space situation. In addition, 82% of survey respondents agreed that a capital campaign will be the best way to move forward with funding the option we pursue.

On the last day of Sukkot every year, as we conclude the Days of Awe, we recite Yizkor prayers for loved ones no longer with us. In addition this year, just before Simḥat Torah, we will gather for a special Yizkor service to remember those killed in the Hamas attacks on this day in the Hebrew calendar a year ago. We will then move directly into Simḥat Torah, rejoicing in all that connects us and renewing our story once again.
