An in-depth, word-by-word study of a section of Pashat Bo (Exodus 10:1– 3:16) in which we encounter questions about arrogance, persistence, free will, habits that can harden the heart, collective punishment, the fall of empire, liberation found in big and small places, and starting over in every way possible.

In the spirit of Havurah’s theme this year, David Kertzner is organizing a new Havurah adult amateur writers workshop for anyone who wants to go Panim el Panim with themselves, as exploring writers, and with the community in a culminating Friday Oneg with writers sharing their work in public reading. Joining the group does not mean you must read publicly, though – but it has been fun, transformative and moving in the past! The goal is to create a supportive, reflective environment for people who want to write and share in a context that they might not have experienced before.

The current Havurah Writing Group will share short, reflective works we have been developing over the past two months in our Thursday evening gatherings. This will be a fast-moving, lyrically-compelling, and plain old-fashioned evening of unfinished and far from perfect, creative expression. Oneg to follow. Questions?
