For all ages! As a group we’ll creatively retell the story of Queen Esther, dramatically and with live music! A secret theme, known only to the players, will be unveiled when we perform the Purim spiel on March 13. No matter what your experience in theater, all are welcome! This class has been just been rescheduled for a new day and time to include more KIDS, following Shabbat School in the sanctuary with PIZZA! Parents and other family welcome too. On Sunday, March 9, from 6 pm to 8 pm, a book group will discuss Havurah member Rebecca Clarren’s book, The Cost of Free Land: Jews, Lakota and an American Inheritance. This event will take place in person at Havurah and via Zoom. If you can, join us at 6 pm for pizza or other nosh, or come at 6:30 pm for the start of the discussion. Clarren’s book—a blend of history, journalism, and memoir—retells how U.S. policy helped her immigrant family at great cost to Native Americans. Monthly music jams are back! Tune your instrument, warm up your voice and head down to Havurah to jam with us. Join your fellow Havurah musicians for an evening of playing and singing together—for the joy of it! Jams are led by fellow Havurah members and are completely democratic--everyone chooses songs! Our songbook includes both Jewish and secular songs from a wide range of artists and eras. Please RSVP.

(This class will now be starting on January 8.) Using an in-depth, word-by-word approach, we discover literal meaning(s), ancient layers of understanding, and our own personal interpretations that stem from the nuances of the Hebrew text. Basic Hebrew decoding skills necessary.
