What does it mean to be made b’tzelem Elohim, in the image of the Divine? This class invites participants to explore our capacity for creativity as a reflection of the divine spark within each of us. Over three sessions, we’ll experience the media of creative writing, illustration, and music, framed by the ritual of counting the Omer. No experience necessary. This class is for anyone curious about creative expression as a way to connect with others and the sacred. All materials provided. Led by Rabbinic Intern Noah Lind.

A gender-inclusive New Moon group, learning and celebrating each Rosh Ḥodesh with ancient and contemporary ritual. Open to any and all genders, inviting each to connect with our closest heavenly body, the Moon. An introductory meeting will happen on the full moon of Elul on Wednesday, Aug. 30 outdoors—weather permitting—in North Portland. Subsequent meetings will be on or near the new moon of each month either in person in North Portland or on Zoom, depending on seasonal shifts in the weather. Attend any or all sessions. Have you ever wondered about the history of Jews in Oregon? In our first session, we'll watch a short film about Jews in Oregon starting in the 1800s, followed by discussion. Our second class will be a field trip to the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, where staff will present just for us. Our third class will be an opportunity to hear from members of Havurah whose Jewish generational history is rooted in Oregon. Led by Sue Abrams.

This is a spiritual space for community members working in solidarity with Palestinians - and for the liberation of all peoples - to come together to pray, build connections, and renew ourselves on Shabbat to continue our justice work. This upbeat, interactive service especially for Grades 5-7 focuses on the structure, key themes, and prayers of the morning service.

Young children (0-5) and parents celebrate with singing, movement, blessings, and storytelling. All are welcome! Please RSVP when you plan to come.
