LAST DAY TO RSVP FOR KABBALAT SHABBAT DINNER THIS SUNDAY AT MIDNIGHT Sunday is the last day to RSVP for next Friday's Kabbalat dinner. RSVP HERE! The vegetarian dinner begins at 6:30 pm, with dairy-free, gluten-free, and nut-free options. All are invited to bring wine or juice to celebrate Shabbat, and childcare is available for kids ages 2 to 8. Cost adjustments are available by calling 503-248-4662. Please consider signing up in advance to be a volunteer on Friday night. We need door greeters and people to set up or clean up. See volunteer spots here. Heads up! In the spirit of our participatory community, we will all begin busing our own tables before the service begins! The service begins at 7:30 pm and all are welcome, so if you don't attend the dinner, please join us for the service! Rabbi Benjamin and our musicians will be leading a celebration of Shabbat with our community. Join us!

This exhibit is about science and art. It is meant to be a learning experience, about the top 60 solutions to climate change, as researched by over 5,000 scientists. And most importantly it is about hope. It is about learning about these solutions to climate change and changing the hearts and minds of those around us, so that we can all work together. A gender-inclusive New Moon group, learning and celebrating each Rosh Ḥodesh with ancient and contemporary ritual. Open to any and all genders, inviting each to connect with our closest heavenly body, the Moon. An introductory meeting will happen on the full moon of Elul on Wednesday, Aug. 30 outdoors—weather permitting—in North Portland. Subsequent meetings will be on or near the new moon of each month either in person in North Portland or on Zoom, depending on seasonal shifts in the weather. Attend any or all sessions. We are, once again, coming up to the dates when Palestine and Israel each has a national day of remembrance to mourn the consequences of the ongoing violence. Israelis mourn on Yom Hazikaron (Memorial Day) and Palestinians on Nakba Day (Day of Catastrophe). As an alternative, Combatants for Peace and The Parents Circle Families Forum organize the Joint Memorial and Joint Nakba Remembrance ceremonies, through which they can grieve together, catalyze transformation, and strengthen their shared resolve to create a just peace. We will gather at Havurah Shalom to view the ceremonies together when they air. -
