Sunday, September 7, 2025 • 14 Elul 5785
2:00 PM - 3:30 PMHavurah ShalomCome join the poetry circle and invite poetry, with its unique ways of touching us through our senses and emotions, to uncover moments of insight about ourselves, our relationships with others, and the state of the world, in preparation for the New Year. Fran Payne Adler and Willa Schneberg will read poems of reflection for Elul, poems of other poets, and their own poems, followed by a discussion of what these works of introspection spark within you.
Fran Payne Adler is the author of poetry books and exhibitions, most recently “Dare I Call You Cousin,” about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, that showed at Havurah. She is the former poetry editor of Tikkun Magazine.
Willa Schneberg, a recipient of the Oregon Book Award in Poetry, is a poet, ceramic sculptor, and licensed clinical social worker in private practice. She founded “Oregon Jewish Voices,” the annual reading series sponsored by OJMCHE, which, for over 25 years, she continues to curate.
Following this poetry gathering will be a party for the premiere of a new video all about Havurah! You are invited to come for the poetry and stay for the party!
