Kabbalat Shabbat Dinner
Friday, November 9, 2018 • 1 Kislev 5779
6:30 PM - 7:30 PMOur catered Kabbalat Shabbat dinner begins at 6:30 pm, followed by a brief, musical service at 7:30 pm. All are welcome at the service, and no RSVPs are required. Advance registration is only required for the 6:30 pm dinner.
Kabbalat Shabbat dinner happens with the help of many volunteers! If you are a member of Havurah, please follow this link to sign up for an opportunity to help with set up, to greet our guests, or to help clean up after oneg.
To increase convenience for everyone, members are asked to remember the door code and use it to enter the building when greeters are not present. Contact the office at info@havurahshalom.org or 503-248-4662 if you are a member and do not have the door code.
For the dinner, we offer dairy-free, gluten-free, and nut-free choices. You’re invited to bring wine or juice to celebrate Shabbat. Childcare is available for kids ages two to eight. Please RSVP for the dinner by midnight, Sunday, Nov. 4. If you're interested in a cost adjustment for the dinner, please call 503-248-4662.
In the Havurah spirit of participation, all who attend the dinner are asked to bus their own dishes before the service begins at 7:30 pm. We hope this will ensure a smoother transition to the service. Thank you for making this possible!
The RSVP period for Kabbalat Shabbat has passed! If you missed the dinner, we hope you will still join us for the service afterward.

As part of our annual holiday cycle, Havurah members are invited to share our own reflections on the themes and stories of the High Holiday season. In addition to prose or poetry that may be shared on the bima at High Holiday services, we are putting out a call for artistic expressions in any visual medium, including paintings, drawings and photography. We welcome your reflections on any aspect of the High Holidays experience, whether they arise from our tradition’s core concepts of teshuvah (return) or seliḥah (forgiveness), or from any other aspect of your own process of looking inward during the time leading into the holiday season. The Elul and High Holiday Gallery is a project of the High Holidays Committee and the Design Committee, led by Joan Peck and Marcia Suttenberg. -
