Kabbalat Shabbat Dinner

6:30 PM - 7:30 PMKabbalat Shabbat Dinner happens with the help of many volunteers! If you are a member of Havurah, please follow this link to sign up for an opportunity to greet our guests. We welcome volunteers to help with set-up or clean-up, too. This link will also appear after you have completed registration. (If you need to bow out of your spot, please delete your name at the link above and also give Arleen Slive a heads up. Her phone is 503-244-1315. No texts, please, just calls! Thank you for volunteering!)
Our catered vegetarian Kabbalat Shabbat Dinner begins at 6:30 pm, followed by a Kabbalat Shabbat Service at 7:30 pm.
Due to space limitations, we must limit seats for the dinner, so please sign up as soon as possible to be assured of a seat. Registration will close when seats are filled, but no later than midnight on Sunday, Feb 3.
Please note that everyone is welcome at our 7:30 pm service, whether or not they attend the dinner at 6:30 pm. RSVPs are only required for the dinner.
For the dinner, we offer dairy-free, gluten-free, and nut-free choices. You’re invited to bring wine or juice to celebrate Shabbat. Childcare is available for kids age 2 to 8. Please RSVP below. If you're interested in cost adjustments for the dinner, please call 503-248-4662 and select extension 2 to speak with Rachel, who will be happy to help you.
Whether or not you attend the dinner, please join us for our spirited and joy-filled Kabbalat Shabbat Service, which starts at 7:30 pm. Music will be provided by our talented Havurah musicians.
The RSVP period for February's Kabbalat Shabbat Dinner has closed. We hope you will join us for the open service at 7:30, or at dinner next month!

We all think of kids, gelt and dreidels when we think of Chanukah. But in reality, is Chanukah just a kids holyday? Join us as we discover the ways in which Chanukah is a holyday for adults! Emily Simon will lead us as we study sections of the Book of Macabees and other Chanukah-related texts. We will learn things about Chanukah that Hebrew school did not teach us. All are welcome. Please RSVP below. Our class will include participants from a variety of congregations around Oregon, Washington and the USA. Facilitated by Emily Simon with assistance by David Dropkin. While the Havurah gate is being installed beftween 8 am and 5 pm, the main entrance through the courtyard will be closed. Visitors are asked to go to the entrance on the Kearney side of the street and call a number that will be provided to them there. A staff member will let you inside. After 5 pm, the gate doors will be propped open securely, allowing people to enter and exit the building through the main entrance in the courtyard as usual. Questions? The art panels and hardware for the Havurah gate will be installed. Visitors may enter and exit as normal while this work is taking place (8 am – 5 pm). When it’s done, the exit device will be set in the open position, meaning the gate will close but not lock in the closed position. Anyone visiting the building after 5 pm may open and close the gate to access the main entrance through the courtyard. Signage will be in place to help you. Questions?
