This month's Kabbalat Shabbat is sponsored by the Tikkun Olam Committee, with a focus on Immigrant Justice. 

What causes people who only recently turned a blind eye to the suffering of undocumented neighbors (or who demonized them) to recognize that these formerly neglected ones are human beings too?  And what is it, in a season of xenophobic public rhetoric, which allows us to articulate a more empathetic public policy?  Amidst a plague of darkness, can we look into the eyes of people seeking refuge and see who we are – at the same time?
