Havurah Shalom

Dear Fellow Shabbat School Parents,

For those I haven’t met I am Julia Lager-Mesulam, one of your Shabbat School Co-Chairs.  My kids are Ari in the 5^th grade and Eli who is in Middle School.  I am writing to ask you a favor besides just reading this….

I am part of the newly developed Havurah Planned Giving/Endowment Campaign.  We’re calling this campaign “Give back to the Future!”  To get the ball rolling on this campaign this Spring, we are asking members to come together in small groups to discuss the need for raising funds beyond our dues that will ensure that Havurah can continue to offer innovative programming for adults, families, and children.  It is important to hear from members to ensure that the process of creating an endowment campaign is done in alignment with the true egalitarian and respectful manner that are our values.  The Campaign committee and Havurah Leadership specifically wants to hear from you, Shabbat School families.  They want to know what are our needs and  values.  They want our input!

To that end there are gatherings scheduled specifically for us. These will occur on 4/16 and 4/30 starting at 3:15 p.m.   Please consider staying after you drop your kid off at Shabbat School on one of those days to hear about this campaign and provide the critical feedback we need to ensure this campaign is done in a way that honors your values.  These meetings will not be fundraising events. They will be informational and discussion-oriented. 

I  will be facilitating the conversations.  The meeting will last an hour at most.  In order to have robust conversation these groups will be limited to 25 so if these dates do not work for you or you don’t get into a group there will be future groups offered during May and June.  Those will be announced via Hakol and weekly emails from Havurah.

Thank you for your consideration.  I realize that time is precious and we often plan many things during the time our kids in Shabbat School even if g-d forbid it’s me time, but the time you dedicate to this part of the process is valued and important and will shape the endowment campaign for the community we all call home.
