This is for parents of children of any age; for parents of all backgrounds. We’ll look into the contentious historical roots of Chanukah, many of which parallel questions of cultural, political, and religious identity that we still contend with today! We will try to focus on the parts of Chanukah that can be useful, enjoyable, and contribute to our family lives while reclaiming the holiday from commercialism and cooptation into the 'Jewish Christmas.' We will discuss the particular challenges that our diverse families face in this season, as well. Bring your thoughts, conundrums, questions, family traditions, favorite children's Chanukah books, etc. Facilitated by Deborah Eisenbach-Budner.
