The Song Circle is based on a program designed by Joey Weisenberg and the Rising Song Institute focusing on communal songs and niggunim, wordless melodies. The group is open to all who wish to learn, share music, and grow their personal leadership techniques. We will meet in person at Havurah and on Zoom in Zoom Room Dalet.

We gather to find some moments of quiet and shalom. Led by Rabbi Benjamin, Adela Basayne, Deborah Eisenbach-Budner, Nancy Becker, or Ria de Neeve. In this cohort we will engage with Jewish spiritual practice in the name of building a more just and loving world. Our primary lens will be Mussar, an approach to living centered around middot, “soul traits.” In trusted community, we will explore middot vital to justice-seeking and examine how they manifest in our relationships and actions. An in-depth, word-by-word study of selected prayers, with a special focus on the Shema and Amidah. We build a vocabulary of words commonly used in Jewish prayer in order to uncover both ancient and modern understandings of the relationships between humans, God, and the rest of nature, how we call forth our best human selves, give and receive love, and struggle with an imperfect world. We will explore the Book of Psalms through a variety of lenses: historical, theological, structural and poetic. Focusing then on selected psalms, we will compare translations, examine them as stories of emotional journey, and try our hand at writing our own psalms. Led by Tivona Reith. This upbeat, interactive service focuses on the structure, key themes and prayers of the morning service. Especially for families with youth in Grades 5-7. There are only 34 spots so please sign up only 1 adult and 1 youth per family. All participants must be masked and socially distant by pod and have no covid indications or recent exposure.
