Zoom Room Gimel
The Long Range Plan Committee is moving into data analysis and reporting. With over 90% of the community completing the Census over the summer, and over 200 members completing the Survey, we have great information to distill into a report and recommendations. We are looking for interested members to join us for the kick-off to this process in Zoom Room Gimel. If you have questions, please contact Adela Basayne or Debbi Nadell.

Zoom Room Bet
Spiritual support group and conversations for climate and social justice advocates. Join us for informal sharing, discussion and occasional meditation as we wrestle with the long haul change process while working on urgent issues of our time. Conversations on "God" and how to relate in ways that support our ongoing justice work. We will share how we deal with the anxiety, terror, discouragement and sometimes hopelessness that can accompany our work, motivating one another to keep on participating. "We are not required to finish the work. Neither are we permitted to desist from it." – Rabbi Tarfon, Pirke Avot. We will be in Zoom Room Bet. Hosted by Harriet Cooke

RSVP at Ecumenical Ministries
You are invited to hear Randy Woodley speak about his newly released book Becoming Rooted: One Hundred Days of Reconnecting With Sacred Earth. Mr. Woodley, a Cherokee descendant, co-directs the Eloheh Indigenous Center for Earth Justice Partnership, which is part of the Eloheh Farm located here in Oregon that teaches about regenerative agricultural practices. The book raises awareness of the sacredness of Earth, as well as deals with themes related to the continuing impacts of colonization of indigenous lands that grew out of the Doctrine of Discovery. This event is being hosted by Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon and will be recorded. RSVP for the zoom info. We will be forming a book group (kickoff meeting January 18) to support us in the meditations, and ideas for reflection and action contained in the book. For more information, contact Michael Heumann.

An in-depth, word-by-word study of selected prayers, with a special focus on the Shema and Amidah. We build a vocabulary of words commonly used in Jewish prayer in order to uncover both ancient and modern understandings of the relationships between humans, God, and the rest of nature, how we call forth our best human selves, give and receive love, and struggle with an imperfect world. Basic Hebrew decoding ability needed (even slowly). Led by Deborah Eisenbach-Budner. (Please check back close to the date of this event for information on gathering. Depending on circumstances, it may take place in person, on Zoom or both. If it will be accessed via Zoom, please use Zoom Room Dalet. For login info, contact info@havurahshalom.org or see Hineinu.)
