For all who want a regular prayer practice and for people saying Kaddish. The service starts at 8:15 am for Rosh Hodesh Heshvan and includes Hallel and Torah readings.
Music & Meaning in the Shabbat Morning Service Wednesday, Oct. 30, 7 pm - 8:30 pm
A walk through the Shabbat morning service, focusing on the prayers we generally sing at Havurah. We will learn melodies and engage with the meaning and resonance of each prayer and of the service as a whole. These three sessions build on each other, but students are welcome to come to any or all. Taught by Rabbi Benjamin. Wednesdays, Oct. 30; Jan. 8, 15.

Gather in vigil as we express our support and love for families affected by ICE detentions. Join this monthly gathering to lift up the reality of what happens every day at the Portland ICE facility and participate in solidarity in various interfaith expressions and rituals.
Discovering Shabbat Learners Minyan Saturday, Nov. 2, 10 am - 11:30 am
This upbeat, interactive service focuses on the structure and key themes and prayers of the morning service. Especially for families with youth in grades 5-7. Light lunch afterward. RSVP here.

Il Violoncello Capriccioso Sunday, Oct. 27, 5 pm at Havurah
Havurah member and cellist Diane Chaplin presents a recital for solo cello, Il Violoncello Capriccioso. The program will include music by Jewish composers as well as virtuoso works for cello. Admission is free, although donations will be accepted at the door. The event is open to the public and will be followed by a reception.

(IP) Hebrew as a Tool: Prayer and Torah (registration closed) Wednesday, May 21st 7:00p to 8:15p (This class will now be starting on January 8.) Using an in-depth, word-by-word approach, we discover literal meaning(s), ancient layers of understanding, and our own personal interpretations that stem from the nuances of the Hebrew text. Basic Hebrew decoding skills necessary.
